Do you hear that? That's the sound of suitcases being zipped, fursuits being cleaned, Prismacolors being packed, and furries generally getting ready to make their way to Chicago! Opening Ceremonies are just four days away, which means we need to hustle to finish up the Midwest FurFest Top Ten! For #3 today, we've got some info that we know everyone has been asking about: Food and Drink at MFF.
The first thing you know is that our famous Midwest FurFest Restaurant Guide is back once again, revised and expanded to 36 pages of maps, contact information, and most important reviews of every restaurant in a 3-mile radius of the Hyatt Regency O'Hare, plus a bunch of not-to-be-missed places in and around the Chicago area. Every single person who gets a Midwest FurFest badge will get a copy of our Restaurant Guide as well. If you can't wait that long, you can find the online version of the Restaurant Guide at http://tinyurl.com/MFF2012RestGuide
- it's obviously a different format, but all of the data from the Guide is in there.
So, what's new and notable in and around the Hyatt Regency O'Hare? The hotel restaurant (O'H American Grille) will be welcoming us with some delicious buffets available each day for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Even better, just show your Midwest FurFest badge and you'll get a 15% discount off any buffet! Red Bar and the Lobby Bar also have some tasty new offerings ready for us, from cocktails like the Wolf Pack and Fur-Tastic offered in honor of MFF guests to discounted beer specials! And as always, Perks Caf‚ on the Entry Level serves Starbucks coffee and has pastries and sandwiches for folks on the go.
Outside the Hyatt, we are very excited about the addition of the MB Financial Park at Rosemont, located a short 3-block walk from the hotel. We won't kid you, not all of the five new restaurants are winners, but we especially think that Park Tavern (a gastropub with inventive menu offerings), Five Roses Pub (a American rendition of an Irish pub that offers good food but will surely be hysterically funny to any visiting Irishmen and women), and Kings (a high-end restaurant and bowling alley; NOTE - You must be 21 or over to enter after 5 PM!). Additionally, Adobe Gila's and Toby Keith's I <3 This Bar & Grill are open until 4 AM on Friday and Saturday nights!
Don't feel like leaving the hotel? We've got you covered! You can get a variety of great food delivered to your hotel, from some of the finest in Chicago's famous deep dish pizza (Giordano's and Gino's East) to delicious Indian food (Maharaja Indian) to Chinese (Lin's Mandarin) to a slew of other local pizza joints. Additionally, this year we are pleased to include Grubhub, a great service which will deliver food from 53 restaurants (including sushi, Mexican, and many other cuisines) to the Hyatt and surrounding hotels for a nominal delivery charge. You can find more info about this service at http://tinyurl.com/MFF2012GrubHub
Finally, we would be remiss if we did not mention Midwest FurFest's renowned Con Suite. Located in Grand D, the Con Suite will open at 5 PM on Friday afternoon (why so late in the day? The group before us doesn't clear out until late Friday). Not only will you find the snacks that you might expect at a conventional Con Suite, we've got a shiny new soda fountain (featuring artwork that you can take home if you're the highest bidder in the Charity Auction!). Plus we've got a great selection of food all weekend long that will keep you going so you can enjoy all that Midwest Furfest has to offer. Our Con Suite Directors have some outrageous surprises up their sleeves for the weekend, too, so be sure to stop by and check the place out!
Just two more entries to go! Are you excited? I know we're excited! We'll see you back here tomorrow for #2 in the Midwest FurFest Top Ten.
